Most hotels trade comfort for place: generic rooms, manicured distance from the real world. Tree Roots Retreat was built on a different premise. What if the garden was the lobby, the pool was the living room, and the land outside your door was the entire reason for being here?
Tree Roots Retreat is an adults-only retreat in Rayong, on the Gulf of Thailand. The property is kept child-free, which keeps the garden quiet and the days slow. Two and a half hours by road from central Bangkok, about two hours from Suvarnabhumi Airport, and an hour from U-Tapao. Private transfers can be arranged.

The rooms
The room faces the garden.
The architecture does not compete with the garden. That is not minimalism, it is deference. Each room is a considered composition of white linen, warm teak, and art chosen for feeling rather than decoration. The real show is through the glass.
Every room opens directly onto the garden or the pool. No internal corridors, no distance from the outside. Air conditioning, private bathroom, fridge, and WiFi. Every room has the same layout; the difference is which part of the garden you wake up to.
Mornings
Morning, unhurried and outside.
Breakfast is served each morning in the garden: fresh fruit, eggs your way, and coffee, prepared on-site by the team. No buffet, no rush. Just a quiet start to the day under the trees.

The rhythm
There is a rhythm to the week.
Movement in the morning, space in the afternoon, sauna before dark. BJJ, yoga, weights, surf, arts and craft: the same fixed schedule every week, so you always know what the day holds. Sunday is a rest day.

My one and only go-to place when coming to surf in Rayong. Clean and bright, lots of cute animals, very chilled vibes, like staying at a friend's house.
The perfect place to meditate, do some creative thinking, and get a nice workout too. BJJ, weights, etc.
